Micco Scrub Sanctuary

Local tip · Scrub-jays are curious and loud. Stop at the first scrub opening past the kiosk, stand still five minutes, and let them come to you. Never feed them — it is illegal and it kills them.

Local tip · Ask at the ranger station for the bird checklist and for which cluster of red-cockaded woodpecker cavity trees is currently active; the white paint rings on the pines mark them.
